CuteFTP must be activated within 30 days or it will no longer function. When prompted, provide the serial number you received when you purchased the product. You can use either your first and last name or your company name. After you have provided the information, you can view your activation information on the main menu by clicking Help > About CuteFTP.
To save a backup of the serial key in text format on a local drive, click Backup and Print Registration Data. This information is useful if you change computers and need to install the software on the new computer.

Invalid Serial Number - The serial number must be entered exactly as it appears on your invoice or label. It is not case sensitive. If you received a digital invoice, avoid typing errors by copying the serial number to the Windows clipboard and then paste it (CTRL+V) into the serial number box in the registration wizard.
Lost Serial Number - If you cannot locate your serial number, you can obtain a copy from GlobalSCAPE Support. If you still have the original email address used to purchase the software, on the main menu, click Help > Locate a lost serial. If you no longer have access to that email account or do not recall which email address you used, contact customer service department and provide your name, address, order ID or any other pertinent data that might help us locate your original purchase record.
The computer where you are installing CuteFTP Server must have an open connection to the Internet. All trial serial numbers are verified by a GlobalSCAPE registration server on a recurring basis. Do the following If an open connection to the Internet is not available:
Once the service has successfully started, the registration process should be complete. The next time you log into the Server Administrator interface, you should be given the option to Continue for up to 30 days from the time the trial serial number was created.
Solution: Make sure the serial number is valid. It is not case sensitive, however it is alphanumeric and must be entered exactly as it displays on your invoice or label. Solution: Registration serial numbers are specific to a particular product. For example, you cannot register CuteFTP Professional with a CuteFTP Home serial number and vice-versa. Also, a serial number for version 6 can't register version 5 and vice-versa. Double-check your invoice to see what product and version you purchased. Compare that to the product name and version shown in your Help About box or on the Splash screen. If they don't match, then please download the correct product from our Web site. If you accidentally purchased the wrong product please contact us.
Solution: Because activation takes place over the Internet, CuteFTP must be able to connect to our registration server to complete the activation process. If it cannot connect or complete the process, it will prompt you with various alternatives. You can go through a manual registration process, where you e-mail us certain information and we subsequently reply with an unlock code, or choose to register via a Web form, which also provides you with an unlock code. The final alternative is to continue as an "unverified" registration, which means that we will honor the serial number you provided as valid for now, and attempt to complete the activation process later once a connection to the registration server is secured (checked at application startup). Note: To register successfully, you must be connected to the Internet and have administrator privileges on your computer. If a firewall or proxy server is in use, the network administrator should ensure port 80 is open during the registration process.
Solution: If you cannot locate your serial number, you can obtain a copy if you still use the original e-mail address used to purchase the software.
